Greg van Laun

Managing Director

Leading the team is Managing Director Greg van Laun, with over 35 years of experience in the Fire and Security industry, both in South Africa and the UK.  Standing on a foundation of technical product and market knowledge, Greg delivers designs, and offers advice, in often-challenging environments. He is approved by the NSI as a Nominated Designer, as well as holding the FIA Fire Risk Assessor certificate. Greg is crazy about most sports, was an avid cricket player in his younger days, and still loves his golf.

Simon van Laun

Operations Director (SMSTS)

Simon works with his operations team at the heart of the business, making sure our clients are looked after and ensuring nothing is missed. He is approved by NSI as a Nominated Designer, as well as holding the FIA Fire Risk Assessor certificate. Simon studied at Kings College in London and has obtained his CITB Site Manager Safety Training Scheme certificate. Simon was a keen cricket player and still enjoys the odd social game, when he is not on his latest woodwork project.

Natasha Keyser

Office Manager

Natasha runs our office in Portbury and works closely with the directors in all facets of the business. She is an essential part of the Operations team and a point of contact with our clients, there is nothing that bypasses her scrutiny, and nobody gets to the phone quicker. Natasha loves being outdoors and looks forward to her family holidays of sun, sea and a good book. This is her escape from work and endless renovation DIY!

Caitlyn Dodds

Administrator

Caitlyn recently relocated from Newcastle to Bristol and joined our team with the experience of having worked in a family run fire and security business for 5 years. This means she is not fazed by the fast pace in the office and has proved to be a great asset. Caitlyn is now CAD trained and assists Natasha in running an efficient office.

Julie von Falkenhausen

Accounts Administrator

Julie takes care of our client invoicing and answers all account queries. Julie enjoys spending time with family, cooking and doing handcrafts.

Kirsten Godfrey

Stores Administrator

Kirsten ensures that our stores and ordering of stock are kept efficient and works with the engineering team to arrange smooth supply for installations. Kirsten enjoys gym and weightlifting with her husband.

Jordan Shipp

Projects Manager (SMSTS)

Jordan joined Astron in 2019 after working as an engineer in the industry for several years. Jordan is approved by NSI as a Nominated Designer and oversees the detail of bigger projects. Jordan has his CITB Site Manager Safety Scheme certificate. Because of his experience, Jordan provides technical support to the engineers and to clients, and will go on site if needed.

Helen van Laun

Financial Director (SMSTS)

Helen keeps us in check financially and administratively, and makes sure that we comply with our ISO9001 and NACOSS Gold accreditations. She works with Greg on marketing, Simon on health and safety implementation, and the team on quality management. Helen has her CITB Site Manager Safety Scheme certificate.

Sean Cole

Lead Engineer (SSSTS)

Sean spent several years in the British Army qualifying as a vehicle mechanic and had worked his way up to Supervisor level in civilian life, when he decided to retrain as an electrician and then to follow a career in fire and security. Sean constantly challenges himself and is now qualified in all disciplines and is involved in training others. Sean is a family man, and he enjoys travel, camping and water sports. He still finds time to tinker in his garage and play for his local skittles team.

Jason Isaac

Senior Engineer (SSSTS)

Jason is a qualified electrician and joined us with mostly access control experience but due to his determination, has progressed impressively, and he is is now qualified in all disciplines, with a specialism in CCTV. Jason has achieved his CITB Site Supervisors Training Scheme certificate. He is happiest when responsible for a large installation and left to get on with it. Jason is a family man, which takes up most of his spare time, and is a coach for his son's football team.

Alan Andrews

Engineer

Alan is a qualified electrician and sub-contracted to us for two years before joining the team in 2018. Alan has been working as an engineer and his years of experience running his own business made him the perfect person to take over the running of our stores. He is now the go-to person for the engineers, making sure they are all looked after on site.

Alexander van Laun

Engineer

Having trained under senior engineers and attended formal training, Alexander is now responsible for most of the maintenance of our systems, as well as helping out with repairs and installations when required. In his spare time Alex plays golf at a high level and is an avid fan of Formula 1.

Ross Batten

Engineer

Ross joined us as a trainee engineer and is now a valued member of the team, largely due to his enthusiasm and willingness to learn. Ross enjoys fitness and going to the gym.

Jordan Kunst

Engineer (SSSTS)

Jordan is a qualified electrician and joined us in 2022 for a change in career. The team appreciate Jordan's good humoured approach on site and friendly manner.

Chris Francis

Engineer

Chris spent over ten years serving in the British Army before changing careers. He joined Astron in 2023 as and experience fire and security engineer, and is a great addition to the team. Chris has fitted into Astron seamlessly, and is already taking responsibility for large projects.

Barry Saes

Engineer

Barry moved to the UK from the Netherlands in 2023 and joined Astron in January 2024. He already had 10 years of experience in installation and project management, and has proved a great addition to the team. Barry is already taking responsibility for large installations.

Astron have carried out major system installs, small additions to existing set ups, and fault finding. Their annual servicing is very thorough, any faults are discussed, and solutions agreed with the engineer.

They are open and informative at every stage of the install and their engineers are dedicated and very professional. The work was completed in a timely manner and to a very high standard.
