The Alvis family have been making cheese at Lye Cross farm since 1952 and today the company employs more than 130 people with an annual turnover of more than £30 million. More than 1,000 cows on the three Alvis family farms supply the rich milk to produce a quality range of traditional and organic cheddars that make Lye Cross Farm cheese so special.
Astron are proud to have won the installation of the fire alarm system for the multi-award winning company that exports to more than 40 countries.
The Lye Cross Farm site presents a unique challenge where we were required to protect 5 individual areas using wired and wire-free technology, and different categories of fire alarm system. The fire alarm systems in the warehouse, packing area, and shop have been networked together across the three separate buildings to form a single system, and to enable ‘one out, all out’ in the event of a fire alarm event.
As the head office building has recently been decorated, and the client could not afford any disruption to the day to day management of the site, we specified the class-leading Hyfire wire-free detection equipment which allowed us to protect the site to the L2 category required.
We committed ourselves to Astron to install both fire and intruder systems as they seemed very professional. On appointing Astron they quickly set the wheels in motion to install the systems. Simon was very professional in his approach with timescales, and would always update me on the progress of the fit.
Astron has also provided outstanding after care when we have asked various questions about testing the system etc. I would highly recommend Astron to anyone.
